Hi friends! Today we are walking you through ReCharge, eTown’s brand new 5-acre amenity center, that was designed to promote health and wellness for the smart-living community. This community was built based off of the notion that technology, sustainability and convenience amplify today’s modern living lifestyle.
ReCharge includes a resort-style pool, a tech-savy fitness center that opens to an outdoor yoga lawn, a rooftop event patio, playground, activity lawn, gathering spaces and a dog park! This community is perfect for Jacksonville’s fast-paced and youthful resident’s being centrally located within the city.
THE ROOFTOP
Today we are walking you from the top-down, starting on the rooftop patio which includes a solar canopy designed by the architect, Basham & Lucas Design Group. Directly under the solar canopy, we included some bar height gathering tables to evoke a rooftop bar feel for adult happy hour events.
Along the south side of the patio, we included a drink rail with barstools overlooking the resort-style pool deck with a 25 yard lap pool for the active community.
When it comes to restaurant style furniture, we love to mix up the heights of the tables and chairs to provide the guests with maximum flexibility. On the north side of the patio, which overlooks the yoga lawn, we included four top dining tables for families to enjoy.
THE BAR
You can’t have a rooftop without a bar! Located along the back wall of the rooftop is a resident-use bar equipped with a sink and storage for entertaining family and friends. We included this fun three-dimensional hex tile to bring out a techy-modern feel.
In contrast with the hex tile, there are hints of industrial elements such as concrete, wood and brick to allude to the community’s sustainable values. We enjoy seeing all of the fun ways this space is used on eTownJax’s social media pages, if you haven’t had a chance to check them out, click here!
THE POOL
As you make your down to the pool from the rooftop, there is a lounge area to wait for the rest of your crew to catch up with you before choosing where to sit. A lot of these communities have a hard time to keep up with the maintenance on outdoor lounge furniture, at ReCharge we presented a cushion-less yet comfortable option to avoid the headache!
The ReCharge pool deck has plenty of seating options depending on if you are getting some sun, with a large group to have a picnic, a family having a snack between swimming or ready to relax and read your book in the shade.
THE FITNESS
Heading indoors to the high-tech fitness center, we wanted to add a pop of color and address the iconic ‘e’ logo seen throughout the community. We created a custom design mixing carpet and resilient flooring flowing organically from one side of the room to the other.
When designing the fitness room, we wanted to do something different with the ceiling while taking noise into account. We incorporated an acoustical baffle system that integrated with the linear pendant style lighting.

“My favorite detail while designing eTown Recharge was probably the baffle ceiling. It was tricky but a lot of fun to lay these out perfectly with the unique shape of the building. The fitness room was a great opportunity to have fun with color and modern design trends.”
